Introducing Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the Holy Land. Olive oil is rumored to have originated in this region but Farouk & Friedman may be the first duo to introduce its superb quality to the US market.

The Brand

A collaborative effort between a Palestinian, Farouk Shami and his long-time Jewish friend, Kinky Friedman, with all of the after tax profits being donated to children’s charities. This is not your average Olive Oil brand.

The Principals

Farouk & Friedman long for a better example of mutual cooperation. Together and in their own style, they would provide that model in the form of their olive oil brand. Farouk Shami knows olive oil. Growing up, his family’s income came from having the only olive mill for miles around. Farouk knew that if he could just introduce the superb quality olive oil he knew as a child, the market would embrace its wonderful flavor.

The Charitable Aspect

Oasis of Peace is a five time Nobel Peace Prize nominated charity. Through their grass roots program, School of Peace, 16 and 17 year-old teen age children are recruited from adjacent neighborhoods (half Jewish, half Palestinian) for workshops on conflict management. They are taught mutual respect and cultural awareness, both in short supply, both necessary for any lasting change.
